Dude, (Matt and Manny) you guys should shut up about the racism crap. I am American and I love torstein, I give him mad props. Rice didn’t win because the fans are racist, Trice won because to fans the double cork 1080 just looks cooler. If you guys watched XGames last year you would know that Torstein and Trice faced off and did the same exact tricks, only difference is Trice didn’t revert last year. He stomped it clean but Torstein won. so who cares, stop complaining

you know nothing about snowboarding. and by that, i mean you don’t know anything about stomping tricks, the ability of each rider, etc.

first, t. rice didn’t stomp. nothing else to say about that. a revert doesn’t count. and if you do count it, you probably do some half ass spins yourself.

secondly, both torstein and t rice have been doing those tricks for quite a while now.. if you follow snowboarding, contests, and vids, you know that they have these tricks on lock. so obviously if you are judging by each rider’s ability, they did nothing new.. which was disappointing on both ends..

bottom line, i’m not baggin’ on t rice at all. i actually prefer watching him over torstein but in this situation, contest-wise, he didn’t deserve to win. what makes it really worth arguing over is the fact that he won by a landslide.. it was blatant..

and i don’t even know whre to start with halfpipe judging..

I don’t see why everybody thinks Torstein should have won hands down if non-biased judges were deciding this. Sure a 1260 is amazing… but Rice did just a half rotation less than Tor and he added TWO backflips! Rice stomped his landing as well but he just had to revert at the last second to keep his balance.

He didn’t win the X-games as we know it, he won American Snowboarding Idol, where the three other contestants where foreigners. Of COURSE he won, he coulda straightaired that kicker with a method and still won.

No joke. The announcers were saying hopefully the voters ignore the riders’ home towns. They did not. They voted for Trice cause hes American. He didn’t even stomp. And switch backside 1260 for Horgmo? Stomped? Come on that’s incredible.

Isn’t this event supposed to be the most prestigous and important in snowboarding? How can you leave the outcome to a bunch of fan voters? And only american fan voters on top of that?!

With judges around it’s even doubtful Rice would have beaten Bang in the semi final. Rice is a great athlete, but he wasn’t the best last night.
