A collection of comments about Stoked hosted by Rebel4Liberty*
Welcome to the Rebel Outpost. We have put together a page dedicated to fan reactions from playing Stoked.
Since our launch we have had a lot of community feedback. Some good, some bad, and some a little extreme. All appreciated. This outpost will feature some of our fans comments, praise and criticisms from the forums around the web. No bias. No BS. Real comments.
Why? Because support from fans helps our small company grow. Check back to see comments from Producers, Developers, and you.

Wanted to say hello to everyone.
We are sorry for the lack of updates over the last week or so; we’ve had quite a few people out sick and it has slowed us down a bit. Everyone, thankfully, is pretty much on the mend now and we’ll be returning with recurring updates shortly. The game will be available on November 24th!
Hi. Welcome to the Rebel Outpost. I’d like to introduce myself.
I’m the Director of Product Development for Destineer and the Producer for Stoked and the Stoked: Big Air Edition.
Through the Rebel Outpost we’d like to give everyone the chance to ask questions or make comments about Stoked: Big Air Edition. If you have something that you’d like to know about the game please make a post on the official Stoked: Big Air Edition forum on Xbox.com.
We’ll select questions from the forum and I’ll answer some of the questions here.
RE: Hi. Welcome to the Rebel Outpost...
Thanks Darth Pious!! The fact Destineer is doing this is SWEET!!! I hope this place can become a guide to proper progression for the Stoked series. I think fans who have been playing various snowboarding titles know what works and what does not. If it's not broke, don't fix it in that respect, and if it doesn't work, some of us know how to spot this and be blunt about it. My hope is with the fan's insight for Stoked we can guide the advancement of the series towards the one game that set the standard called Amped 2, then surpass it ! I am confident with fan's contributing towards a game most of us wish for we can get the job done!

I hope they fix the camera issues...
The camera going under the player in any situation needs to be eliminated. It serves no purpose and is a real annoyance and disadvantage. When going off jumps the camera should pull back a small amount. I emphasize the word small. Shaun whites camera pulled back too much. It needs to be still close enough that you get that realistic mounted camera feel and so that your guy doesn't look like a tiny little arcade character.
RE: I hope they fix the camera issues...
Our goal is to have a balanced camera where you get a good view of what you are riding toward without having the camera drop below the player too much, clipping through the world. We think your suggestion about having the camera pull back a bit is a good one and this is something you will see in Stoked: Big Air Edition. Your sense of “air” is enhanced and landing also gives you a bit of a rush. To me, the whole game is bigger and more exhilarating while still being realistic. Personally, I don’t think the camera pulls back to the extreme you are concerned about. In addition to the camera tweaks Bongfish has also spent a lot of time on the game’s animation set so your character reactions (while being in the air specifically) are a lot more lively; your character looks less stiff and a lot more alive.

Please include giant park mountains in new Stoked
Like some of the other people have said if you incorporated other mountains that were just giant parks but kept the reality aspect, for instance Bear, or Mammoth, or also some of the camps on Mt Hood that would make for a nice variety of things to do.
RE: Please include giant park mountains in new Stoked
This is a really good comment and one that we heard a lot about in recent months. When we sat down to design the original Stoked Mike from Bongfish and I didn’t want it to seem like all of the other previous snowboarding games where resort like places (or recreations of resorts) were the focus. And, personally, I didn’t want players to play Stoked and think “I’ve played all this before, just on the first Xbox”. So, we settled on backcountry so you could explore as much as you want, find your own trick features, and then tell your friends about them and ride together. We realized that maybe we took that a bit too far (and I say that with a smile on my face) so we have done some things in Big Air to add trick feature variety without detracting from what makes Stoked different.
On all of the five mountains from the original Stoked we have added different combinations of groomed trails, park objects, and decal tagged kickers and jumps. Almirante, Fuji, and Shuksan have runs with all of these things, Diablerets was already quite densely populated with log slides and jumps so we made other enhancements across the mountain, and Alaska we wanted to remain more backcountry focused. Stoked: Big Air Edition introduces two new mountains: Laax and K2. Laax is a real world mountain in Switzerland; on it we feature park stuff and a new event, the Burton European Open, which is a real-world event. K2 is a very extreme mountain in the real world and it lives up to its real world counterpart in Big Air; it is very steep, very expansive and diverse, and it presents some of the longest (and diverse) runs in the game.
We think the new features (and the new mountains) offer a lot of variety for players. After you have had a chance to play the game I’ll be interested in hearing your thoughts: did we add enough or do you want more?

Amazing game needs more variety...
Stoked has nothing to trick off of. A few logs here and there but its really all the same. In skate there's tons of places to grind get big air and stuff like that.
In general, stoked has amazing gameplay (please dont change it) but everything else sucks. Please if you have a question just PM me. This game has lots of potential and I really want to help you make it better.
RE: Amazing game needs more variety...
Well, ok then! Serious though, thanks for being honest. We appreciate you telling us what you think as we really want to make a game everyone will love.
Each of the mountains in the game offers different combinations of groomed trails, park objects, and decal tagged kickers and jumps. This should offer a greater diversity of trick features. Like I said in the previous post, we think the new features (and the new mountains) offer a lot of variety for players. After you have had a chance to play the game I’ll be interested in hearing your thoughts: did we add enough or do you want more?
As far as the game play goes, thanks for your comment. We listened to comments on forums and it seems everyone really enjoyed the media and sponsor challenge types in particular so we made sure that we included more of those on the new mountains (Laax and K2). A couple of forum posts (and the OXM editor who reviewed the original game) said that racing in single player mode would be a nice touch and add a bit more challenge diversity. We talked about it and decided this was something we wanted to do so, we added head to head races against the pros. Each mountain features 8 races. The pro riders are shown off more, there are new ways to ride the mountain thanks to the races, and, selfishly,

Great job for a small company against the giants..
Stoked is a good game I will give it that, and your completely right when you say EA has millions of dollars for production; comparing that to stoked isn’t quite fair....
They did good I'll say for their first game into the snowboarding genre. I gotta say the best part was scoping out your run down the mountain and hitting the spot you know will fling ya, that shit is fun, and its definitely got that over skate (Which is obviously a huge part of snowboarding in RL) so GJ, bongfish nailed that.
RE: Great job for a small company against the giants..
Thanks for your comment. All of us at Destineer are really proud of Bongfish. I’ve been able to work with them for the greater part of almost three years now and I have really enjoyed the experience. I have also made some good friends (and had some amazing travel experiences). Neither Destineer nor Bongfish are large companies; we are both quite small, actually, so we constantly have to make decisions on how best to spend our time and money. It really is a bang Vs buck exercise. Personally I think having these kind of constraints helps you make better games as you don’t have infinite resources, time, and budget.

Stoked is the best snowboarding series since Amped
As it is now, this is by far the best game since Amped available on the 360. I'll admit it, I had a huge issue getting used to the controls, but once I did, I forgot all about the Tony Hawk button set.
RE: Stoked is the best snowboarding series since Amped
Thanks for the compliment. We really like the Skate inspired controls; they really match the soul of the game and the sport too. Funny thing is we were playing around with similar controls and then the original Skate was announced. We were quite excited… their team was A LOT bigger than ours… we were able to see how they handled various situations so we problem solved vicariously through them. LOL!

They need to include more brands to customize rider with
I don't think anyone brought this up but the customizer for your rider blows. To the point I was at, there were very little options for almost everything. Even after having 3 sponsorships. And I am sorry, the customization blows. For the simple fact that you never buy anything so you can only have what your sponsor offers. I personally like to mix and match things in real life and I would like to do so in this game. For example, in the real world I use analog pants, foursquare jacket, burton jeremy jones boots ( probably the most comfortable boots I have ever worn) anon goggles, normally a volcom hoddie (jacket is just a shell so some days gotta layer up). Rome 390 bindings (amazing) and I have a nitro board right now, but I will be getting a new board after this season.I would just like a little more variety for my character in the game.
RE: They need to include more brands to customize rider with
Our goal for Stoked was to have sponsorship mean something for the career progression. It seems like our approach was something well received and now we realize that we need to allow for additional variety for players. We’ve changed some things in the Blue Tomato Customizer in Stoked: Big Air Edition. For starters, we feature 2009 / 2010 gear and clothing so everything is updated. We removed pretty much most of the generic gear and clothing from the first game and kept some of the real world gear and clothing from the 2008 / 2009 line. After you beat the game you’ll be able replay and sponsor challenge and unlock that brand’s gear and clothing too so this should open things up a bit more for you. It is not 100% what you wanted but, you can rest assured we have a lot of ideas for what we want to do with brands and customization later on but I am not ready to talk about that just yet.

Is a park DLC in the future of Stoked?
What I am suggesting is that Bongfish release a terrain park, I am not asking for anything too fancy, but just a long run with jumps that appear to be built by snowcats (grooming machines). Jumps with big transitions with kickers-gap-landing ramp. Things along those lines.
RE: Is a park DLC in the future of Stoked?
Each of the mountains in Stoked: Big Air Edition offers different combinations of groomed trails, park objects, and decal tagged kickers and jumps. This should offer a greater diversity of trick features. I’ve really had a lot of fun playing our mountain, Laax, and its Burton European Open event, specifically.

Show me proof!!!
Rebel you are obviously a kid with your heart in the right place but c'mon mate surely you can see these dorks from Destineer/Bongflush are pulling your chain ? You are just too gullible I am sorry to say.....'nuff said. Prove me wrong !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
RE: Show me proof!!!
Not only are we not pulling Rebel’s chain we gave him his own part of the blog!

More gear options...Better Game
Tons of gear options need to be added in order to personalize the experience for players.
RE: More gear options...Better Game
Great comment. Stoked: Big Air Edition features a wide range of 2009 / 2010 season catalog offerings and some of the branded 2008 / 2009 catalogue items too. We’ve deepened the offerings for eyewear, bandanas, added backpacks, etc. We’ve also added some Neff hats.
In addition to the new stuff we’ve added, I’d be interested in hearing about things you’d like to see available through the customizer. Please let us know your thoughts and we’ll explore options for DLC and other things we’re not quite ready to talk about just yet.
